Foundation CEO Louise Carroll has been elected to a two-year position as board member of the International Federation for Hard of Hearing People (IFHOH). She will hold responsibilities for human rights.
IFHOH is an international non-governmental organisation representing the 300 million hard of hearing people worldwide. Louise joins an international group of board members as the only representative from this part of the world.
With her human rights portfolio, Louise is involved with the work of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN Committee on the CRPD), which recently elected one hard-of-hearing board member. The UNCRPD will be reviewing government responses and shadow reports from people with disabilities from seven countries, including New Zealand.
