Able Trust 2nd Birthday - Prime TV to begin captioning

Louise Carroll, Chairperson of the Captioning Working Group and CEO of The National Foundation for the Deaf finds it encouraging that the New Zealand public are becoming aware of the issue around Deaf people and the many thousands of Hard of Hearing affected by the lack of captioning on New Zealand TV and reports that thousands have signed the online petition. The Captioning Working Group is delighted that Sky has recognised this and responded to this by introducing 10 hours per week on Prime TV, but there is still a long way to go.
We call on the Government to do the right thing and legislate enabling access for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, anytime, anywhere, like many other progressive countries."
