Silent Leadership Challenge 2016

On 5 August, 71 leaders taking part in our nationwide Silent Leadership Challenge wore hearing protectors to simulate deafness.

They then had to tackle four tasks – take part in a team meeting, a one-to-one meeting, a social get-together, and watching TV with the family. Sets of bright yellow hearing protectors were donated by MSA, the Safety Company. Our participants raised almost $24,000 and in the process generated much need awareness about the importance of protecting hearing.

Chief Executive of The National Foundation for the Deaf, Louise Sinden-Carroll says “The purpose of the Challenge is to raise nationwide awareness and funds for the Foundation’s work to prevent hearing loss and support people with hearing loss or deafness. We are delighted with the support so far”.

Quote from one of our 2016 participants:

“As a company from the outset we made a conscious decision that we would give back to the community wherever we could. Over the years we have done this mainly by simply donating money and when this opportunity came along the team were all enthusiastic, as besides it being a great cause, we could also experience the problems that the people we are aiming to help experience on a daily basis”. ~ Greg Roy, Principal Officer Total Focus Property Ltd
