NFD Trust

The NFD Trust has a specific role to play in the sector.  They ensure that grants and scholarships are available for all people who are deaf and hard of hearing to apply for.

The hearing able who work in the deaf and hard of hearing sector can also apply for some grants. Please check the criteria.

The National Foundation for the Deaf Inc. and The NFD Trust are two separate legal entities.

The National Foundation for the Deaf Inc. provides secretariat services to The NFD Trust.

Trustees meet twice a year to decide how to distribute the funds among the many applicants for scholarships, training and projects. A key part of the trustees’ role is to distribute funds in a way that meets the wishes of the donors.

Trustees: Professor Peter Thorne (Chair), Margaret Cooper, Max Clark, Lesley Goodey.

The funds are managed by the Perpetual Guardian Trust.

We have several scholarships and grants available every year. Many of our grants are for those who are deaf and hard of hearing. But we also have some funding available for people who work in hearing-related areas.
