We believe that the experiences of hearing loss should be visible and understood in New Zealand.
That is why we have created an awareness campaign to raise awareness for the isolation people with hearing loss often feel every day.
In this campaign, NFDHH wanted to bring home the experiences of isolation that many Deaf and hard of hearing New Zealanders experience every day. Social gatherings, parties, and BBQs can all be challenging, as Deaf and hard of hearing people must piece together fragments of what is said and often feel disconnected.
We work hard to help Deaf and hard of hearing Kiwis reconnect by sharing real stories from our community, through the promotion of New Zealand Sign Language, by helping people to access much-needed hearing aids, by providing a timely diagnosis and support in schools and workplaces and through our helpline and online community outreach efforts.
Our awareness campaign features professional actors, who explore common themes of isolation.
The Birthday Party.
The Beach Gathering.
For over 40 years, NFDHH have been helping thousands of Kiwis reconnect and live to their full potential. But we can’t do it alone. We need your help to bring them closer to their friends and loved ones.
