New Zealanders aged between 20-64 have a hearing loss.
16-37%
of hearing loss globally is attributed to occupational noise or Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL)
As a non-profit, we rely on donations to fund hearing loss prevention and to support programmes that improve the quality of life for New Zealanders' with a hearing loss.
We are a non-profit organisation working towards a world where hearing and listening are valued, where people with hearing loss are acknowledged and supported to lead fulfilling lives, and where the impact of hearing loss is reduced through access to treatments, technology and social support.
The National Foundation for the Deaf draws the community together to prevent hearing loss and improve the lives and futures of people who are deaf or hearing impaired.
WHAT WE DO

Noise Induced Hearing Loss is a key focus of NFD. As is raising awareness of the impacts that hearing loss have on individuals and society.
Research
Research outcomes lead to new and improved treatment options and a greater understanding of the social and economic impact of hearing loss. Much of our work is focused on research aimed at improving the lives of the hearing impaired community.
Community
Collaboration is of paramount importance to the work we do at the National Foundation for the Deaf. We work with local communities and individuals to ensure they are supported and their views are valued and heard.
