Your privacy is important to NFD.  When dealing with information, NFD must comply with the relevant information legislation, such as the Official Information Act 1982 and the Privacy Act 1993.

Under the terms of the Privacy Act 1993, we inform you of the purpose for which your personal information will be used by us and your rights in respect of that information.

NFD will hold all information you provide in accordance with the Privacy Act 1993.  The Information Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1993 regulate how we collect, use, disclose, access, correct, manage and dispose of personal information.  NFD will take all reasonable technological and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information.

You may browse and access information contained within this web site without providing any personal information.  However, any information you submit to us using the electronic forms on this web site for queries or to sign up for our newsletter, or any other information that you choose to send to NFD, will be collected and used for the purposes of:

c) Keeping you informed of developments.

The information that we collect about you will not be disclosed to any other party in a form that will identify you, unless you have consented to such disclosure, or where such disclosure is required or permitted by the Privacy Act 1993 or otherwise as required or permitted by law.

Log Files
Like most websites we generate log files to analyze trends, track site traffic, and gather broad information for aggregate use. These logs include Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, browser types, Internet Service Providers (ISP), platform types, date/time stamps, etc. This information recorded in our log files is not linked to your personal information.

Sharing
Third Party Intermediaries
We use a trusted credit card processing company for any donation you make to the NFD. The company acts solely on the behalf of the NFD and may not retain, share, store or use personal information for any secondary purposes.

Security
This Web site takes every precaution to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and off-line.

When our donation form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number, etc.), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry-SSL. While on a secure page, such as donation form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are just surfing. (To learn more about SSL, follow this link: http://webopedia.internet.com/TERM/S/SSL.html)

While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line.  Only employees who need the information to perform the specific job of actioning your donation request are granted access to personal information. Furthermore, ALL employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices.
