Children with hearing impairment are at very high risk of educational failure.
For children with hearing aids and /or cochlear implants, a personal FM is strongly recommended.
A personal FM system consists of a lapel-style or a ‘pop-star’-style microphone, which is worn by the teacher. This transmits the teacher’s voice wirelessly to a ‘receiver’ attached to the child’s hearing aids and/or cochlear implants.
Personal FMs are available from the child’s Audiologist or Advisor on Deaf Children.
