The cross-sector Captioning Working Group (CWG) was formed in 2011 and includes members from NFD, Deaf Aotearoa and the Hearing Association. The CWG aims to achieve equity in communication, social inclusion and democratic and civil participation for people who are deaf and hearing impaired.
We aim to improve access for Deaf and hearing impaired people in New Zealand in the way of increased captioning across the media. The Captioning Working Group is a group of passionate people who care very deeply for this cause.
By working together, the CWG has become a powerful lobby group.
We celebrated some significant achievements in 2012 at the inugural Captioning Awards.
