Lisa McKenzie is available to visit the welfare centres and rest homes.  She is able to repair hearing aid tubing, replace hearing aid batteries, and send hearing aids for repair. This service is cost free.

Bay Audiology

Bay Audiology is pleased to announce that as of 1 March, our Christchurch Central, Upper Riccarton and Rangiora Clinics have all been structurally checked and are now open for business as normal.  Our Ferrymead site, however, will be closed until further notice and will be administered in the interim from our Christchurch Central clinic at 120 Bealey Avenue.  We are very happy to help any hearing aid wearers, should their normal clinic be closed.

Funding for Children's Hearing Aids

Applications for funding of children's hearing aids in the region covered by the Van Asch Deaf Education Centre should now be sent directly to Van Asch for checking, following the usual application process.  This approval process had been temporarily changed following the Christchurch earthquake.

Hearing Association

 
The Hearing Association is back working from their 275 Riccarton Road office at their normal hours of Tuesday to Friday 9am – 3pm.  Pauline, Marie & the committee thank you for your support since February.  You can contact the office on 03 341 6705 during the above hours for any assistance with hearing loss issues.  We can also be contacted by email at Christchurch@hearing.org.nz  on our website at www.hearinginfo.co.nz or fax 03 341 6805.
  

Hearing Technology

Hearing Technology are pleased to advise that none of our clinics in Canterbury have sustained any damage and are fully operational.  Both Christchurch buildings in Shirley and Barrington have been inspected by structural engineers and have been certified as safe.

National Health Board - Disability Support Services 

The purpose of this update is to let people know about services available for disabled people from the Canterbury region who need new or replacement equipment, or other services and support because of a sensory impairment or communication difficulty.  Read update here

Audiologists in Christchurch have been severely affected during the earthquake; however many clinics have re-opened, depending on their location and the extent of the damage they have suffered.  In the first instance, please contact your own audiologist for urgent queries and, if you are unable to reach them, please try another NZAS qualified professional in Christchurch - you can find a list of clinics on www.audiology.co.nz.  Any urgent queries can be directed to Maree Gunn at executiveofficer@audiology.co.nz.

Southern Region Paediatric Cochlear Implant Programme 

The Paediatric Programme has relocated for the foreseeable future to the adult Cochlear Implant Programme in Merivale.  The address is:
