Amount

$100,000 from NZ Government in 2008 (for 20 scholarships)

Covers tuition, student services fees and access to individualised academic support while studying at Auckland University of Technology (AUT)

Does not cover Students Association fee

Awarded Annually, to one or more applicants (20 in 2008)
Purposes funded

To support students who wish to become qualified New Zealand Sign Language Interpreters

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must

  • Intend to complete the Diploma in Sign Language Interpreting at AUT and register as a qualified Sign Language Interpreter in New Zealand
  • Demonstrate a basic level of NZSL competency
  • Exhibit academic competency
  • Be of good moral character and repute
